Winter Simmer Pot for Home Cleansing

There’s something undeniably magical about a simmer pot bubbling away on a cold day. The soft steam filling the air, the scent of fruit and herbs warming the room, and that gentle feeling of peace that settles into the walls. Winter has its own unique energy: slower, restorative, and deeply reflective. A simmer pot fits perfectly into that rhythm, blending kitchen witchery with simple home comfort.

I’ve been leaning on simmer pots a lot this season. They’re quick, they’re beautiful, and they make my entire space feel like a hug. But more than that, they’re a powerful way to cleanse stagnant energy, reset the vibe, and invite fresh intentions into your home. Simmer pots are one of the easiest ways to bring magic into your home.

Whether you’re looking to banish old energy, call in warmth and protection, or just make your home smell amazing, this winter simmer pot is the perfect little ritual.

What Is a Winter Simmer Pot?

A simmer pot is a blend of fruits, herbs, spices, and botanicals gently heated in water to release their scent and energy into your space. Think of it as a natural air freshener with a magical twist.

In witchcraft, simmer pots serve two roles:

  • Mundane: they make your home smell incredible

  • Magical: the steam carries intention through your space, cleansing and energizing it

During the winter we spend a lot more time indoors. The nights come quicker; the air is chill and crisp so our homes become our little safe haven. Unfortunately, this also means a lot of closed windows and stagnant energy. Simmer pots are a great way to restore the energy in your home, while also making it smell amazing.

Winter Simmer Pot Recipe

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a pot or slow cooker.

  2. Fill with enough water to cover everything.

  3. Bring to a soft simmer.

  4. As the steam rises, stir clockwise to invite your intention (or counter-clockwise to release what you want to be rid of).

  5. Speak or internally hold your intention — simple is fine, like “Warmth and peace fill this home.”

  6. Let it simmer as long as you’d like, topping up water as needed.

Tip: Write your intention on the bay leaf before adding it to the pot. Let it infuse the steam.
